Stanford University Combined Hand & Upper Limb Fellowship
Goals and Characteristics
Our fellowship is designed to train board eligible orthopaedic or plastic
surgeons dedicated to the study of the upper limb. The Hand & Upper Limb Center
is comprised of both orthopaedic and plastic surgeons, thereby exposing
the fellows to a breadth of problems affecting the hand, shoulder and elbow.
The fellows play an integral role in didactic education, contributing
and organizing aspects of weekly conferences, anatomy sessions, and informal
teaching sessions with the residents. The fellowship logically fosters
clinical research, with ample opportunites for basic science research.
The program accepts 2 fellows per year and is ACGME accredited. Graduates are eligible for the Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in hand surgery.
Rotations
The fellowship is one year in duration, from August 1 to July 31. Fellows rotate thru Stanford University Medical Center, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford and the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. The clinical experience at Stanford includes disorders affecting adults, primarily reconstruction and trauma as well as athletic injuries.
